A Day in the Life of an HVAC Tech

As an employee at Donahue’s Heating & Cooling, my days are a whirlwind of activities revolving around keeping homes and businesses comfortable. From diagnosing furnace issues to installing new air conditioning units, every day brings new challenges and rewards.

Morning Kickoff

My day typically starts with a quick huddle at our office, where we review the day’s schedule and any air quality concerns in the areas we’ll be servicing. After grabbing my tools and supplies, I hit the road, ready to tackle whatever HVAC issues come my way.

On-Site Troubleshooting

  1. The first stop of the day is often a furnace repair call in one of the neighborhoods we serve, like Greensburg or Irwin. I’ll inspect the unit, diagnose the problem, and get to work fixing it promptly.
  2. Next up might be a routine heating service appointment in Latrobe or Murrysville. I’ll perform a thorough inspection, clean and tune-up the system, and ensure it’s running efficiently for the upcoming season.
  3. In the afternoon, I might head out to Export or Mount Pleasant for a furnace replacement. I’ll carefully remove the old unit, install the new one, and ensure it’s properly vented and operating safely.

Customer Satisfaction

Throughout the day, my top priority is ensuring our customers are satisfied with our services. I take the time to explain the work I’m doing, answer any questions they may have, and provide tips on energy efficiency and maintenance. A happy customer is the best reward for a job well done.

As the sun sets, I’ll head back to the office, restock my supplies, and get ready to do it all over again tomorrow. It’s a demanding job, but knowing that I’m helping keep families and businesses comfortable makes it all worthwhile.
